Exclusive | Bulletproof Ohio home last owned by recluse who died with a $54 million fortune goes into contract after multiple offers

An unusual, security-centric mansion in Ohio quickly found a buyer and is now in contract after multiple offers, The Post has learned.

This home, whose standout feature is bulletproof, went on the market just two weeks ago with a price tag of $399,900, Realtor.com reported this week.

Located outside of Toledo in Maumee, the bunker-like property is obvious at first glance—it lacks windows—but it's even more striking inside, where every surface is covered in bulletproof Lexan material.

The property belonged to a woman named Trudy Stranahan, who according to sources was a member of a well-known family. Her grandfather built Champion Sparkplug into a major corporation—and the family was very civic-minded in northwest Ohio.

She, however, is said to have been the forgotten sister of the family. She died about a year ago with a fortune of $54 million. She had no children, is said to have no friends - not even pets - and locals say she did not belong to a church.

Stranahan also reportedly poured hundreds of thousands of dollars into building a home gym, fencing around the property's perimeter and a concrete driveway. As for her gym, that's where she spent a lot of time. She died of cancer.

Although extremely wealthy, Stranahan chose to spend most of her time inside the 3,355-square-foot, white-walled compound, which was originally built by architect Ralph J. Nopper in 1953. The Lexan treatment—not only bulletproof, but also fireproof—was installed by Stranahan a few years before her death.

If the house had windows, its residents would be able to enjoy views of the private lake from the 5-acre property.

Jon Modene, the listing agent from RE/MAX Masters, told The Post that the home sits on an "amazing lot," with perks including a "private shared lake." However, he added, even some of the furniture inside is made of Lexan material.

Other notable features of the house as it is include a mirrorless bathroom, two outbuildings and the fact that, despite being completely bullet proof, it lacks a security system.

The lot once had an Olympic-sized pool in the backyard, but Stranahan filled it.

Most of the people who had expressed interest in the house — which is in a "very low-crime neighborhood" on a "hidden street with no traffic," Modene told Realtor.com — said they would likely remodel or tear it down. . down.
